The third version of Bootstrap

It was published on August 19, 2013 after several months of work by the maintenance team. And to everyone's surprise, the library was completely rebuilt.

This reconstruction was for good reason, because at that time the interest in tablets and smartphones was growing and to be up to date it was necessary to think of a tool capable of creating web applications that offered an impeccable rendering on these small supports.

This is how Bootstrap version 3 prioritized small devices by moving to the mobile-first approach . This was done by including the column-based fluid grid system in the main Bootstrap 3 file and abandoning the fixed grid system.

Bootstrap 3 now moved to the Flat design style , but offered an optional theme for those who did not like flat design. The latter is a style based on minimalism, it limits the number of graphic elements on a web page so that priority is given to essential elements. It also uses authentic colors and does not have shadows.

The glyphicons that were images in version 2 are now in font format in this version and several other icons have been added, so the developers had at their disposal a total of 180 icons in font format offered by the glyphicons library.

The fourth version of Bootstrap

The LESS preprocessor is abandoned in favor of SASS which allows CSS files to be compiled more quickly .

The Well , Thumbnail and Pannel components are replaced by the new Card component which is much more flexible and offers several layout options.
