Since its inception, the world-famous Google search engine has become a machine that generates million-dollar ideas. However, not all that glitters is gold. Many of the products that have come out of its factories have been forgotten or have been surpassed by other companies in terms of performance.
This was the case of its video platform Google bc data europe Video , which was unable to compete with the success of YouTube, leading the search engine to decide to buy its competitor for 1.65 billion dollars (1.273 billion dollars) in October 2006. Its Answers service also came out weakened in its rivalry with Yahoo! Answers , and had to close in 2006, after two years of operation, according to Expansión .
Some of its acquisitions have not been as profitable as expected. Google announced last week that it was closing Dodgeball, a mobile social network based on geolocation. While the Jaiku project, a microblogging service similar to Twitter, acquired in 2007 is not turning out to be profitable, Google will continue to offer this service but will not continue to invest in it.
However, ideas remain the driving force behind the company. Google will soon present an application that will allow users to store their information online on its servers. The invention will be called GDrive.
