If we consider the option of purchasing an existing establishment, then in the process of its optimization and reorganization, many pitfalls may appear. Very often, the reason for selling a ready-made business is its low efficiency, and here it is important to immediately find out the true motives of the owner getting rid of the enterprise. As a rule, this is ineffective management, incorrect marketing, a bad reputation with clients, errors in the advertising strategy. Having understood the reason for the unprofitability of the business, you can try to correct the situation, for example, hire a more effective manager who better understands the salon services market.
Example 1. A beauty salon was being sold very cheaply in Moscow, which raised certain doubts among potential buyers. As a result, a site visit showed that this business would be best purchased as simple real estate. There were several reasons for this:
The concept of the new owners implied a complete redesign of the salon, both in terms of the exterior and interior of the premises, as well as in terms of the management system and provision of services;
In six months, the license for this enterprise to operate expired; the new owners would have to re-register the business in any case.
As a result, the salon was purchased not as an operating business, but simply as a space. Why was the once popular salon reduced to ruins? It's simple: the former owner of the business, who created it with his own hands, handed over the beauty salon to his daughters to manage. They, in turn, took all the money, without investing anything in the development of the beauty salon or maintaining it at least at the achieved level. As a result, the quality of services fell, all the masters quit the salon, whose earnings decreased several times, and the salon itself was on the verge of closing. Clients did not want to buy it in such a state as an operating enterprise, and offered a lower price.
