#TwitchDoBetter – For the past week, thousands of angry streamers have been using the hashtag #Twitchdobetter on Twitter to call on the platform to give them more tools to fight against hateful comments and harassment . This hashtag, accompanied by several petitions and excerpts from streams where creators showed their live reactions to the “Hate Raids” they have been subjected to. These waves of hateful messages often target minority streamers, even if the channel is widely followed and has several moderators; which pushes creators to tinker with techniques to stop them . Twitch responded at the end of the week on Twitter (below) by promising to improve the platform to better filter chats and detect accounts that circumvent the “channel ban” to harass certain streamers .

Facebook/Afghanistan – In the midst of political upheaval, Afghans are clinging to social media as a lifeline . They represent a last means of bearing witness; particularly for Afghan journalists , who are particularly at risk . But social media also represents a major risk for the Afghan population, which is openly opposing the Taliban, who use it to monitor or threaten their opponents . Facebook has therefore decided to implement measures to help vulnerable Afghans protect their accounts , such as the ability to hide friends lists, for example. But Facebook must also deal with the Taliban’s use of its WhatsApp messaging app to communicate with Afghans . Even if Facebook takes measures to block Taliban accounts or close groups that they have created , this use remains difficult to quantify and the discussions are very difficult to access to have an effective impact . The Taliban are now accusing Facebook of infringing on their freedom of expression .

TO REMEMBER THIS WEEK:

App Store Monopoly – South Korea, United States, Europe, United Kingdom: Legal and legislative initiatives are proliferating to force Apple – and to a lesser extent Google – to fundamentally change the rules for distributing mobile apps . Apple avoided a new legal battle with app developers this week by making a major concession on the rules for using its app store. The company announced a series of changes to its App Store policies . Apple will also create a $100 million fund to pay developers . A judge’s decision in a more high-profile dispute with Epic Games is still awaited. In Asia, South Korea ’s competition authority is also attacking the App Store “monopoly . ”

Apple and News – Apple also announced a new program for news publishers: the News Partner Program . For the vast majority of news organizations, Apple’s share of a subscription sold on an iPhone will now drop from 30% to 15% if they join Apple News. But is the presence of newsrooms compatible with the antitrust lawsuits that Apple is currently embroiled in in the United States and abroad? The all-seeing “i”: Apple has just declared war on your privacy . Tim Cook’s incredible decade at the helm of Apple .

Tesla Bot – Elon Musk has presented a humanoid robot with car AI . A publicity stunt in a few slides and a human disguised as a robot on the occasion of Tesla AI Day or a real project? We will probably have to wait a long time before receiving our bread and milk via the Tesla Bot, but, according to Musk, a prototype will probably be ready next year…
