There are several ways to restore your WhatsApp history on your smartphone.
Copy from Google Drive
Today, backup is everything. Storing information in one place is too risky for the modern "electronic" world. Creating backup copies will help restore chats at any time. One of these copies is created and stored on Google Drive. To create it:
— Make sure that Google services are installed on your smartphone, your account is activated, there is enough space to copy and store information, and a stable Internet connection is provided.
— Open the WhatsApp application
- Go to the menu - three dots icon
- Go to the "Settings" section, "Chats"
— Open the "Chat Backup" tab

- Select an activated account or, if there is none, add an poland phone number example account by entering your credentials
— Click "Use" to select the network through which the backup process will take place (mobile Internet or Wi-Fi)
To restore your message history on a new smartphone:
— Log in to WhatsApp using your previous phone number and Google account
— The messenger will offer to restore the message history by clicking the "Restore" button
- After the recovery is complete, click "Next"
— First, the text of the messages will be restored, then the media files (dialogues will already be displayed)
What errors will prevent you from restoring chats from a Google Drive backup:
1. No Google services on the smartphone, a different account and number from the one used when registering in the messenger
2. Not enough memory on your smartphone to restore copies
3. Insufficient battery charge of the phone
4. Unstable Internet connection (it is better to use Wi-Fi)
If you haven't previously created a backup copy in Google, the app will automatically offer to restore chats from local copies saved on your smartphone.
Local copies
To use local backups, transfer media files to your phone via computer or memory card.
The smartphone contains copies for the last week, created automatically daily. Backup copies are saved as a file and are usually stored in the /sdcard/WhatsApp/ folder.
For older local copies, implement the following:
— Download file manager
— Go to the directory by the path: sdcard/WhatsApp/Databases. If the files are not stored on the sd card, then there should be folders "main memory" or "internal memory"
— Change the name of the file that requires recovery from the following type: msgstore-YYYY-MM-HH.1.db.crypt12 to the following type: msgstore.db.crypt12

Do not change the number on the crypt extension. Earlier versions may be on earlier crypts, leave their number.

— Reinstall WhatsApp and restore the backup when the app prompts.
