Here everything is different: you depend on the depositor, or to be more precise, on his money. Let's consider what topics to discuss with him and how to behave correctly:
Don't brag. Investors are serious student database people who negotiate almost around the clock and can understand that they are being deceived at a glance. Imagine how many times they have heard that "our company has the highest quality project!", "a little more, and everyone will know about us!", "we will create a market"? Such statements can cause a sly smile on their face, and it is worse if you are refused to organize a joint project. You will need to sincerely interest the interlocutor in order to achieve what you want.
Don't bluff. If there are no initial investments, partners and associates, other investors, then say so directly. Maybe your strong point is in something else. Don't forget that any word can be checked, no normal investor is going to invest capital without studying the startup to the smallest detail.
Be more specific. Not "billions in turnover in a couple of years," but "our company will reach such-and-such profit in six months: here are the statistics, here is the business scheme." Not "we have the coolest suppliers," but "I will provide a list of our suppliers: here is the contract, the conditions, and here are the guarantees." Not "our activities cover the entire country," but "we have delivery to cities such as... list of settlements." And so on.
Talk about the positive aspects of your business. Why get upset when things are really bad, taxes are rising and rising, there are more and more competitors, for example, a month ago several more online stores appeared that work in your segment? Investors know how difficult it is to run a small business. Try to be on a positive wave: explain how exactly your trading platform differs from the rest, and what steps you are taking to stay at this level.

Do not criticize competitors. For you, the company "AB" is a direct competitor, but for the investor it is just another organization (and maybe more than just another company: what if the investor works with them too?). If you guarantee that you will remove a competitor from the market, then back up your words with actions. Businessmen speak in numbers, not emotions. The best solution would be communication with competitors, holding various joint advertising campaigns. Do not forget to tell the investor about this.
Don't flatter. Another extreme is to use a servile tone from the beginning of business negotiations, agree with the investor in everything. Even if the partner is more experienced in something, try to behave at a decent level. Show yourself as a real businessman, demonstrate all the professionalism and knowledge of the market system, be more loyal to competitors.
Advice: be honest, tell the whole truth - it is better than bragging and an immoderate sense of self-importance. The investor may think that he is dealing with a self-confident youth and will refuse to help you.
