Power BI News for August
Copilot and AI
You can access your semantic model data from the desktop through Copilot. Just tell Copilot what you need and it will search your model to give you a visual answer.
Since the Copilot dashboard on Desktop is still in preview, you do not need to turn on the preview switch to use this feature.
Information
One of the most notable features of the August australia telegram data Power BI updates is visual-level formatting strings, which expand formatting customization options. Initially designed for visual calculations, these strings allow you to apply specific formats to these calculations, something that was not possible before since they are not part of the model. Now, they can be formatted if they are used in data labels or in specific parts of the new card and slicer visuals.
Additionally, visual-level format strings are useful even without visual calculations. With their introduction, Power BI now offers three levels of format strings:
Model: You can assign a format string to columns and measures in your model. This string will be applied everywhere that column or measure is used, unless it is overridden by an element- or visual-level format string.
Visual: New for August in Power BI. It allows you to set format strings on any visual column, measure, or calculation within a visual, even if they already had a format string. In this case, the model format string will be replaced by the visual level format string.
Element: You can define a format string for data labels and elements specific to the new card and new slicer visuals. This level will be expanded in the future. Any format strings set here will override those set at the visual and model levels.
