Is it possible to rank very well on a PC but not on smartphones and vice versa?

It can happen perfectly, although it is normal for the positioning of a keyword to be homogeneous between devices, we can see very drastic variations in positioning between devices.
Typically there are only small differences of, say, two positions or more.
Another thing to keep in mind regarding devices is that SERPs are not the same taiwan phone code and this makes users more likely to click on a position depending on the device used.
It may well happen that we see domains that rank well for one specific device and poorly for another since Google launched its smartphone ranking discrimination.
Previously, when I only had the PC version as my main ranking value, the results were more equitable.
Are there common characteristics within the highest ranking domains?
One of the main characteristics of all well-positioned domains is their own brand, "it is said that for Google it is an indicator" although we all know that everything is modifiable.
I never stop insisting that the brand is the greatest asset of a company.
I always use Coca Cola as an example, which, despite being one of the biggest brands today, continues to work on its branding.
Another example has always been pornhub.com, a domain that continues to grow every day and has created a brand for one of the most searched sectors on the Internet.
This is a domain where 50% (approximately) of the traffic is brand traffic (the rest you can imagine) and, as you can see in the following image, it continues to grow.
