Wheelys blooms in Melbourne

Post by Dimaeiya333 »

When Iranthi and Jarkko met in a Melbourne pub, Jarkko wanted to do something different from his web development background. And Iranthi had always wanted to start her own business.

The pair quickly realised they had magical chemistry, as they both shared a common interest in the wizarding world of Harry Potter.

They set up a coffee business called “Wheelys Melbourne” in Melbourne’s CBD. canadian cto cio email database They first set up the business in a local shopping centre and at first it was barely profitable. But they kept on trying until one day, a customer asked them if they could take the coffee cart to her birthday party. And the customer offered to pay by the hour.

More clients, more workload
That’s when an idea sparked in Iranthi’s head. She realised that it’s much more profitable to charge by the hour than by the number of cups of coffee sold. So she started taking on jobs. And that’s when Jarkko’s technical know-how came in handy. She felt that out of all the coffee businesses in Melbourne, Wheelys Melbourne had the best SEO game.

That helped them get on the map within a few months of starting the business, and they then started getting bookings for large corporate events and other social functions. Iranthi said that without Jarkko’s technical expertise, it would have taken them much longer to establish themselves in the business.

But with high demand came other problems. They found that with just a couple of people in the contact centre, they were starting to miss out on a lot of bookings . Plus, they were wasting time on the phone talking to the wrong customers.

The Eureka moment
To ensure that they didn’t lose a valuable customer and to better evaluate their customers, Jarkko created a dynamic form. It was a form that allowed customers to learn more about Wheelys by answering a few simple questions. This helped the Wheelys team narrow down their leads and contact only qualified customers, helping them increase their efficiency.

"It was a good balance," Jarkko said. "I brought a lot of technical knowledge and Ira brought the PR aspect and hospitality industry knowledge."
