There has been a lot of talk lately about different types of realities, such as virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality. Although both terms are sometimes used to refer to a single reality, they are different concepts. Today, we are going to explain what each of them consists of and how you can take advantage of virtual and augmented reality to boost your business sales.

Broadly speaking and to bring concepts into focus, we can say that virtual reality is the kind that generates fictional worlds, augmented reality combines virtual elements within the real world, and mixed reality is a mix of both.

Virtual reality

Virtual reality (VR) allows the user to enter a completely viber data fictional, virtual world. Isolated from the real world, this technology offers us a sensory experience in a parallel universe. To be able to interact with this fictional world, glasses created especially for this type of technology and headphones are required.

Virtual reality glasses are completely closed, so they do not allow you to see anything outside. Thanks to sensors, they recognise head movements, which translate into the user's movements within the virtual environment.

It was in 2010 when Palmer Luckey created the first virtual reality glasses commissioned by the Oculus Rift company.

Augmented reality

Thanks to augmented reality (AR), the user sees and interacts with virtual and fictional elements within the real world. One game that is based on this type of technology is Pokémon Go, which allows users to capture virtual Pokémon on the streets of their city.

This technology also makes it possible to see how a certain object would look in your home decor, a colour painted on the walls or simulate the finish of a face make-up. Thanks to augmented reality, the client would have a clearer and more precise idea of the final result.

To enjoy an augmented reality experience, special glasses, headphones or a smartphone are required.

Mixed reality

Mixed reality is a combination of augmented and virtual reality. It allows the user to interact with real objects and elements in a virtual world. And, as you can imagine, the user will have the option of living the experience in reverse as well. That is, they will be able to interact with fictional elements in the same space where they are or completely immerse themselves in a virtual universe.
